I'm running awesome 3.4.3 on Arch Linux.

Recently I tried a GTK+Python note taking application called Keepnote (http://rasm.ods.org/keepnote).

Strangely, it is kept on the floating layer, taking up all the screen. I cannot move or resize it. I also can't move it to the normal tilable layer.

I can only change the window's size by dragging the small GTK "resize thingy" below the vertical scroll bar.

I installed WMII, and the application works flawlessly on it.

Is there any more information I can provide to help track this issue?

Thank you.

i also am running arch linux. I just installed keepnote and got it to work.

*note* keepnote opened itself maximized, so I had to mod+m to get it to tile.

Can you try modkey+m (or whatever your keybinding to toggle maximized_horizontal|vertical is) and then see how it behaves.

Perhaps we should unmaximize all clients in the manage hook? Did anybody ever see a real use for that? It seems to only confuse people...

This patch *should* unmaximize all client via awful.rules.

I couldn't really test this since I don't know which apps open up maximized. :(
