When starting BA (Balanced Annihilation, Mod for the real time game engine spring, ,i assume the same problem with other mods), in full screen mode the screen flickers and i get back to my normal desktop. The game is in tiling mode, not maximized, not in full screen. The mouse is captured by the game and the window remains black. Game itself works since it recognizes mouse clicks and shortcuts. Ending the game (by magically hitting the right buttons), results in normal desktop behavior.

That is quite an outdated Awesome you are using. Want to try to update?

If you want me to guess:

Awesome restarts because the screen resolution starts, BA gets some kind of event which confuses it (UnmapNotify?) and stuff goes downhill from there.
Could you add a print(, "started") to your config, start BA and see how much awesome restarts?

If this really is a restart problem, then this is a duplicate of FS#687 which sadly isn't seeing much activity.
